Here's what I have left after putting together EdWort's Robust Porter (turned out awesome btw)

1.5 oz Cascade
1 oz Northern Brewer
0.5 # Flaked Barley

I've done quite a bit of searching, I can't seem to find a recipe that uses both northern brewer and cascade hops.

Any suggestions for what I can make out of these left overs?

Right now they're just chillin in the fridge. I really hope they don't go bad before I can use up this stuff...

You have 1/2 pound of flaked barley, and no other grain or extract? Um...nothing that I can think of.

haha maybe I should clarify. Obviously, I can't do anything with what I've got.

I'm looking for something that uses what I've got.

This is going to sound nerdy or pedantic or whatever, but why not brew Ed's porter recipe again, and see how closely you can repeat it? Unless you're so confident about your process that you can brew anything, it would be an interesting challenge IMO.

944 has a good point... i brewed the exact same brown ale 3 times... could have told me it was 3 different recipies and i'd have believed you.

I was thinking about that too. I REALLY wish I would have saved the yeast from this last batch. I've researched yeast washing, but I was not prepared enough to do it on bottling day.

There are certainly things I would have done different. (i.e. the recipe called for malto-dextrin, and I totally forgot to get some...still hit 1.064 tho)

I would not mind drinking more of this stuff...it's damn tasty.

I've enjoyed Mike McDole's "Janet's Brown Ale" a couple of times now, and it uses Northern Brewer, Cascade and some Centennial.

Maybe you could drop the Centennial dry-hop and use the flaked barley instead of the cara-pils for body?? Adjust the hops for the amounts you have on hand, etc....

Here is that recipe:

I believe Palmer had a recipe for a lady liberty pale ale that had the hops you have in it.

You'll have to look it up for the exact recipe, but I remember seeing it in How To Brew.

Lexus, I approve. I've been meaning to try a brown, but didn't find any recipes that fit what I had. Must have missed that one.

With the 0.5# of flaked barley I have, I would need 0.62# of cara-pils/dextrine. Unfortunately, I don't have enough Cascade or Northern Brewer hops, looks like I would have to get more...

I found the Lady Liberty Pale Ale recipe.

I approve of this one as well, as it is fairly simple, and uses all the hops I have.

Now I am torn with these three options:

1) "Re-brew" the same porter again

2) Brew up the brown

3) Make some pale ale

Decisions decisions...:drunk:

You could just scale the recipe and make a smaller batch.

Side note: :off:

Weirdboy:

For some reason I went stalker status and saw you brew very similar to how I do: on the stove across two burners. I like how you dressed up your boil pot.

How did u fashion the "heat skirt" around the bottom? Also, where did you get the insulation material?

Reason I ask is the stove deal is pretty inefficient, but it's all I can do. I feel like I need to find ways to improve this process...
