What bottle for a Belgian/Barleywine

How much do you care about the look of your bottle? Are there any aging differences that makes you chose one style over another? What size do you put your big beers into? 750, 375, 12 oz, 22 oz, 187ml?

I am thinking about using both 22 oz bottles, and 187ml bottles (single serving).

I try to save any short, squat bottles for my belgians...that includes red stripe bottles, sierra nevada's and any belgians I may have...although I haven't gone hog wild and pushed the limits on carbing my begian strong outta fear that the red stripes or the sierra nevada's could handle the pressure.

I don like the short squat look of them.

I'd use standard 12 oz bottles for something big like a Barleywine. Odds are that if I'm sitting down to drink Barleywine, I'm not going to want 22 ounces of it at a time. It's just a bit too big for quaffing.

Edited: Belgians, on the other hand, I will drink until my ears get wet.

Big bottles, either champagne bottles or Belgians, for big beers. They make better-looking gifts that way.

I find that I like the look of something special, but like to drink from a smaller bottle of either 187 or 12 oz. The big ones are great gifts though.
