I made a session Berliner not as sour as traditional and even lower abv. Clocking 2.4 ish and sour just enough to give it a crispy Sharpe finish. Very clean very pale very refreshing. What 2015 category should I put it in? I'm leaning to mixed Fermentation but was hoping for some guidance.
Cheers

I think if it fits the aroma, color and flavor balance of a Berliner Weisse, that's where it should be entered.

The style's alcohol range is already well within the limits of session beers and being a little below that isn't a problem. Putting it into another category without giving it a characteristic that would bounce it out of the base style would be a waste of time.

Are you looking to get general brewing feedback for flaws or just general criticism?

BJCP competitions are mostly just to see how well the beer fits into a specific style category. If you feel like you still want to enter it in a category other than Berliner Weiss, then the only place it fits is 34C Specialty - Experimental Beer.

BJCP have stressed that the guidelines are not rigid for 2015 rules, and that it's more important that the beer give a general sense of the style and be enjoyable rather than meet the specs.

I feel like it would do better in Berliner than it would in mixed fermentation due to being such a light and rather simple beer compared to a lot of mixed fermentation beers. Does it still have live bacteria in it? Maybe it'll pick up more acidity over time? I honestly don't think the lower lactic acidity would hurt it terribly if it's otherwise a nice Berliner.

Yea its tasty so I want to enter it, Im actually a BJCP judge, just having trouble placing where it would do best. Maybe ill roll with berliner and see what happens. The lacto is dead so it will not change over time. Its an awesome drinkable beer, just not really "in" style so trying to find where it will take the least amount of point loss.
