Anyone planning a crazy brew day for May 2nd?

Nothing crazy, ZD clone again for a friend that wants to bring growlers to Ohio. Dude couldn't believe how good it was. He's buying all the ingredients and only taking half of it. Just trying to decide if I want to do a 10 gal batch.

I don't get drunk off wine, just sad. Can't wait to blow up this thread with pretentious pictures of wine.

Really? I get all emo drunk when I drink wine. Pretty sure I got wasted on Pinot Grigio out of a tupperware container in the back seat of my buddy's car on the way to Mankato when John Mayer came on the radio and I called my then GF to tell her how awesome she was. In a car full of dudes. Brutal.

Haha are the Avery mail labels really that impressive? ;) I would think good beer in times of stress would be better. I heard a beer writer make a good point once. Key word there is once. Below is a paraphrase.

"People always wait to drink special beers on special occasions. Weddings, new job, birthdays, new child, etc. That is fine but those moments dont come around all the time. Why not just set aside a monday or tuesday night for one of those great beers? Then having that great beer is the special occasion."

There was some HB from one of you turds in my fridge and my buddy said, "well, how do you know that guy didn't piss in the bottle?"

I said, "they wouldn't do that..." but I felt more like I was convincing myself of this fact than making a factual statement.

Haha now that is great! He does have a good point though.....

Who did you decide to order from? I really need to place another order.
On my last coffee.

Sweet Maria's for this one. I'll see how it goes and will probably try another place just to compare quality of beans, pricing, service, etc.

Our brew club is brewing up three batches of the same beer (one extract, one BIAB and one all grain) at our LHBS. Then that beer will go on a tap line at the LHBS when it is ready. I should be there for a chunk of the day, but won't be one of the brewers.

Water with lunch. Now to punish the dog with a two mile walk :)

So in other words, you're not brewing? :D

Yesss... peer pressure much? I like saving good beers for good times; I don't have much of the latter lately. Had the nut brown. Not sure which one to have next. I'll knock a couple out this weekend with some nice food.

It's great having them all over my fridge though. You should see visitors faces when they open my fridge.

LOL well you drank mine pretty fast...damn you for not thinking they were good brews. :(

I kid I kid. I'm okay with my beers sucking, more for me.

Work is killing me. Someone cases a 4 month delay and suddenly I have 30 seconds to do something because someone else is a **** up.

A local brewery is hosting this year. Offering free yeast pitches and hot water. I don't care so much about the yeast but I will go out of my way for hot water!

Nice! Cant complain about free hot water haha.

I have thought about inviting some people over to brew that day but I kind of enjoy brewing alone. Ive have friends come help before and it just seems like a hassle. I either have to ask them to help work (then supervise to make sure they dont f*** up, which in the end saves me no time) or Im just running around while they sit around. Damn friends always getting in the way of stuff! ;)

Haha, definitely this. One guy I had over was giving me suggestions on my all grain process when he doesn't brew! He hasn't been back for brew day haha. I have another buddy who's been here a few times and knows the general process, so I don't mind if he's here. It is a lot if people are asking lots of questions... I tend to run around quite a bit so it definitely slows it down. (I'm modifying my process so I'm just using my pump for everything).

I brewed up a baby with my wife... OH!

Actually though, I've got a buddy that comes over and helps once in awhile. He genuinely wants to learn and actually helps when I tell him to do something. Also, he brings over a bunch of out of state beers and cheese and sausage and peppers and what-not.

He's welcome whenever.

I've invited many neighbors and friends to come over on brew day to observe (and perhaps get interested enough to do it.) Other than my next door neighbor who already brews, nobody has ever taken me up on it. The one downside to that is usually the beers are flowing freer (and heavier weight) leading to an increased chance of screwing things up!

I enjoy brewing alone, but wouldn't hesitate to brew with any one of you crazy SOBs here.

Yeah, I would brew with someone who knew what the hell they were doing. But none of the guys I hang out with brew. If they wanted to get into it, I wouldn't mind brewing with a noob so that they could learn. But I don't need someone getting in my way to just hang out and ask questions for no reason...I have 3 kids doing that already.

What a nice guy to offer suggestions about something he doesnt know haha.

That would be a completely different story and probably more fun than brewing should be haha. When you gonna catch a flight to MHK so I can watch you drink while you watch me brew? ;)

That is a good point. The few times I did brew with friends, quite a few more beers were consumed than normal. Both turned out good though so we didnt screw up anything too terribly!

Agree with 99% of this (dont have kids).
