Ahhh, finally home. Skipped to after lunch beer in the name of expediency and really need this saison to get my body to chill out a little. 4 days of over drinking has left me a little ragged. And thirsty, i should get another beer either chilled or out of the fridge to warm up ;)

Love me a good dirty martini! Dry gin shaken with a half oz of olive brine poured into a martini glass swirled with extra dry vermouth. With three olives! I like to think that's how Dean Martin would have done it!

For now, a couple fingers of Makers!

Nabbed these two, both of which I've never tried, after a long weekend at a wedding with in laws who don't drink, but when they do its bud light. At least the food was amazing. Which made me think.....is it better to have good food and bad beer or bad food and good beer???

I'd rather have good food and no beer or good beer and no food than either of your options. Pairing bad with good just detracts from the good.

I'm pretty much a Sierra Nevada fan boy, but man those Ovilla beers suck. I tried the mandarin/peppercorn saison even though the first saison, dubbel, and quad had all been sub-standard. Didn't think the new one was any better. Not very dry, or at least not dry enough for me, or maybe there is too much caramel malt in there.

I've never understood this. I've never met a person who didn't want to have incredible food. However, so many people I know have no desire to explore more flavorful beer.

I'd take the good food/no beer option. Then have the bad beer later so I enjoy the good food! I love some good food!

I agree on the pairing good with bad thing. My wife's friend married a Mexican guy and his parents did the cooking for the rehearsal dinner. Absolutely amazing. I figured why ruin it with a bid light.

My honey citra good for 2nd in the overall in the local comp and won me some hb goods. Thanks to bitterroot for sharing some recipe info!! Good stuff

I thought this was the entire haul from NHC, but I already put the tired hands growlers and ECY in the fridge and I'm too lazy to get them out for another picture.

Quit posting pics yesterday, but ended up drinking more Loretta, geuze tilquin, 2 yr + Orval, '10 Bbbbourgodier, '11 bfm bon chien, victory's new wit, and then a trip to tired hands. What a day!

I'm so excited about the homebrews I traded for. I've got about 15 wild/funky/sours to try and a half dozen 'normal' beers.

Black saison now, maybe a Stillwater, and time for bed.

Agreed on the Ovila. Since when do monks filter the hell out of a saison? 100% clear and 0 residue in the bottles. Sierra Nevada missed the mark in this one. Decent beer, but in no way memorable.

Good luck. The Cantillon fruit beers can be incredible, but you'll be just as or more happy with 3 fonteinen or geuze tilquin if you can find those and not the cantillon geuze.

Where and how are you getting Cantillon in Wisconsin? Going there like the last week in July and cant wait to try to score some three Floyd's and others, if I can add Cantillon to that list I'd be pumped haha

I've had the tilquin on draft around here once or twice, that stuff is good!
