Friday: A flight a Saga Meadery. Two Bourbon Barrel Aged meads, one with "winter" spices, a strawberry mead, and a habanero mead. All very good! I had never had any mead other than my own few attempts, so now I have mead goals!
Today: Peach Cider. Considering that this is Walmart AJ and Jumex Peach "Nectar" it is really nice, especially with just a touch of backsweetening!

Was a completive runner for most of my life. One of the reasons I got into brewing was that I couldn't run anymore. Needed another "hobby".

I’ve been playing around with easy to blend, easy to drink 1970’s-style pizza beers. Back in the day, all your big national brewers had kegs of their dark beers available for restaurants and bars. Many of them even bottled up their beers for retail sale.
A lot of these were said to have been modifications to their standard beers, sometimes even colorized or flavored in the keg.
1970’s dark pizza beers were actually very popular – and in some ways might be viewed as precursors to the craft beer movement in the beginning in the 1980’s. How much better was it having a pitcher of dark beer, a 16” pepperoni pizza or maybe a Hawaiian with pineapple and a game of darts… great fun!
Today’s blender features a Victoria Vienna lager blended with a Moose Drool Brown Ale. OK, Ok, I know a Lager/Ale blender. No biggie, this tastes great! I have enough beer here for a 2:1 mix of 4% ABV Victoria Vienna Lager by Modello with a can of Big Sky Brewing 5% ABV Moose Drool. That puts our pizza beer blender right around 4.33% ABV.
Nothing definitive here, I have an Alaskan Amber Ale I’m going to try next time. Groovy!

A couple of hydro samples: ginger beer (l) and Graham's English cider. Both ready to bottle and pretty tasty as they are. A little touch of monk fruit sweetener definitely helped bring out the ginger and apple. Happy with both of these.

Well, A.I. labels and dunkels seemed to be a theme today. I made the picture with OpenArtAI years ago then used GrogTag for the details. Our Stafford pit's name is Luna so it worked well with a Hunahpu clone. Thanks!

Thought I'd enjoy getting project done on time. Ten year old project that never worked. Experience and time travel got it to work. Plenty of stuff to still fix. Ask manager if he wants me to stay and increase functionality. Well the bean counters were wrong and they only have half the boards and chips they thought and need to buy more. Therefore, no more funding. I hope the robots respect the sacrifices I put in for them to be in power when the time comes in.
And we drink. Treehouse 13th Anniversary and Wafflepeary

1970’s Pizza Beer – test #2! Well I tried this at 2:1 Victoria / Alaska Amber… Then at 1:1. I’m liking this one a lot!
So far the best is a 50/50 mix of Victoria and Alaskan Amber. Alaskan is a 5.3% ABV Altbier. Altbiers are few and far between. They feature a mahoghany – copper color and originated in the Dusseldorf area. Basically, these are German Ales which are then lagered, similar to a Kolsch. Blended color is looking good, decent head and perfect clarity!
Not that any of that matters here, as I’m bastardizing these brews! I’m looking for an easy mix to approximate the old 70’s-era Pizza brews available at every hometown pizza joint back in the day. All this for a weekend pizza-fest…. Far out!

I am really enjoying this Schwarzbier from @camonick . A bit of malty sweetness and very clean and well balanced roast level. Has that cola character at the end that is so typical with the style. Good work again, this might be my favorite so far!

A flight of six local brews with dinner (Buffalo Chicken wraps) at the American Brewers Association museum at the Potosi Brewery in Potosi, WI. We’re starting to make this a yearly pilgrimage. The food’s really good, and the beers do not disappoint. The tour of the museum is a ‘must see’ for any beer aficionado.
