Some Treehouse and probably more watching basketball and trying to get back into the swing of things.

Homebrew. This was supposed to be a light lager but the pack of cellar science German I pitched was dead on arrival. I pitched some m54 instead. Which did not clear at all.

It turns out all I had to do was complain on the internet and …a few days later it’s nice and clear. Pretty tasty kölsch-y thing.

I am celebrating with my neighbor, hot showers are back in our house after a five-day gas line replacement.
We decided on a TexMax beer night. head retantion sure sucked on most beers.

Victoria is my go-to when I’m cooking Mexican food. But I go for the quart bottle!

Busy night with a big concert at school. Time for a big beer. Another from the long-term cellar.

Stone Vertical Epic 09.09.09
Chocolate, plum, roast. Toasty, round and surprisingly, very tasty. It’s in the space directly between foreign extra stout and imperial stout. Bigger and fruitier than an export, but not as heavy and chewy as an imperial. Tropical notes but not overly “Belgian”. Pretty good for 16 years.

One more before bed.

Belching Beaver Deftones Phantom Bride

After reading the Kolsch, Kölsch, Koelsch debate thread, I’m curious if we wanted to get into the debate over cultural appropriation with the whole Día de Los Muertos vibe of the can???

… oh, and the beer’s good.

Today's agenda, MSFS2020 and Star Wars (originals). Leg was feeling better yesterday but then I woke up...

What's the temp of the pool down there in toasty Texas? A cold plunge may help you to soak your leg in if it's cold enough. Just a thought. Nothing worse than people giving advice when you're in pain. I got a routine. My feet are always killing me after a round of golf. If I'm lucky I'll go out stream fishing without waders. People think I'm crazy but ooooh it helps.

Got to drink a beer with one of my idols last night (Sam from Dogfish Head if you’re not familiar). Such a cool experience and a great human.

We were both drinking Grateful Dead Pale Ales, then I had a flight of 2017 olde school barleywine, siracusa nera, and 2016 world wide stout.

82 is my minimum at its so close at 81. However, lying flat with Empire Strikes Back and THIS sounds better. Walking in the boot is causing some back pain with my torn disk from 2003. At least I'm not at work and still making cash!! 😂

I'm not convinced this is their best year. I taste something akin to infection. Maybe it's just me.

On another note, anyone else wonder why the Empire didn't just come out of hyperspace a couple thousand miles from Yavin 4 then blow them up 30sec later? That would have been more efficient and maybe stop the 6/7/8/9 absolutely awful movies from being filmed.

You have Ketchup/BBQ sauce running thru your veins?

Brew on :mug:
Golly, I wish! Having had my kidney swiped, I'm supposed to stay away from ketchup and BBQ adjacent foods. Took me a while to excavate the bottle of ketchup from the back of my fridge. In fact, I nearly gave up looking for it.

Edit: Thanks Doug, you may have saved me a lot of anguish today. I hadn't given much thought to it, but it's been just shy of 1.5 years since I donated the kidney, and I was off the ketchup and BBQ adjacent foods for 1.5 years prior to that. Cripes, that ketchup coulda killed me. It's in the trash now.

Yes, it continues! More Mexican beers, tonight I’m sampling Estrella Jalisco, another perfectly clear Lager from South of the border – this one with a little bit of head. Made in Guadalajara, Mexico since 1910, Estrella Jalisco has a 4.5% ABV. I really have to point out the clarity of these Mexican Lagers, it really is outstanding!

Estrella Jaliso is just a touch different from the parade of other Lagers I’ve been drinking this week. Have you ever noticed Budweiser has just a slight residual sweetness to it as compared to say a Coors or Miller? That’s the same thing I’m picking up here. This is a well done, professionally made Lager, otherwise very similar to the others with just a slight bit of residual sweetness to my palate.

Again, squeezed limes applied to the lower half of the beer. The residual sweetness is absolutely un-noticeable with squeezed lime wedges in the glass. With limes, again very “Corona-ish,” something many of us have compared to the taste of Mexican beers. Actually it’s the taste of limes in just about any BMC-type Lager I’m finding…. I like it!

I really like the style. Let us know how yours turns out.
I’ve made this Dunkel recipe multiple times and love it. I’ve shared it with several HTB members and received favorable feedback. This time I used sauergut in my mash and I’m excited to try it.
I’ve actually posted the recipe in the lager recipe section.

I plan on brewing it on Monday. Today I milled the grains, measured out the hops and minerals, and got my RO water. I’m heading out of town tomorrow morning, back Sunday night. I wanted everything all set to go for Monday morning.

Homebrew English Table Ale. Good stuff.

Long time no see!!! That beer looks great.
Just kegged another batch of raspberry hard lemonade that was requested that I take to a camping trip at the end of the month.
Relaxing and drinking my favorite now.
