My second one. A tasty triple IPA from El Segundo Brewing Company.

Erdinger Weißbräu is another great Bavarian brewhouse specializing in wheat beers. They know what they are doing!

Erdinger’s Weißbier is a great-tasting wheat beer and gets the Beermeister32 seal of approval! On the back side of the label it claims that Erdinger is the World’s #1 Hefe-Weizen. This is a delicious beer, and not at all like many of the other wheat beers I’ve had. Definitely in control of the phenols, In fact I’m not picking up any. Like the Paulaner from a few days back, it seems that the lower the “clove thing,” the higher the rating - Erdinger claiming to being #1 in the World, and Paulaner being Germany’s favorite.

I always get a kick out of reading the marketing stuff on the bottles, and Erdinger heaps it on thick – how about “Bavarian Double Maturity Method”…. and elsewhere “All Natural Bottle Fermented”. I guess when you combine those two statements, we can probably guess this is fermented and then bottle conditioned, that being called a second fermentation (which it is of course, but to the uninitiated, sounds super special!)

At 5.3% ABV, you can drink 3, maybe 4 of these this afternoon… Go for it!

Was just searching the web to order some more brewing ingredients and just discovered that Atlantic Brew Supply has gone out of business. They were my go-to online HBS. :(

SoCo Homebrew is still alive and well!

OT, Electrolyte concoction after 3hrs of much needed yard work from working 6days straight.

Edit:
@Mr. Vern you are awakening the pinball wizard within!

@TheDudeLebowski glad you have access. The pinball center 2 min away closed down. 😔

HB NEIPA...was enamored with the style for a long while...now more lagers and new school WCIPA. But this is a nice hazy with Columbus, Simcoe, Superdelic and Galaxy hotside, echoed with the same minus Columbus in the dry hop. A bit more ibu's than average for the style, but quite good:

And @Dgallo you'll need a panoramic view for the family photos soon ;-). Cheers! Rick

Goldbrew Coffee Stout (7.4% ABV ~42 IBUs)

After almost a decade away from the hobby (which I wasn't proficient in back then anyway) my first batch is ready to drink!

Foolishly I said to myself, "Founder's Breakfast Stout can't be THAT hard to replicate".

I didn't even come close.

Granted, I had to make some uneducated guesses as to what grain to sub for this or that as my LHBS was out of what the recipe called for and I wanted to use the coffee that I received for Christmas in place of Kona. And I knew nothing of water profiles. Nor had a way to control temperature...or had the basic know how to not be a bumbling buffoon in general...

All in all it came out a bit more acidic and less bitter than I'd hoped but you know what? It's still pretty damn good. And since this batch's brew day I've come a long way in regards to knowledge (in no small part due to the advice of you all) and gathered a good bit of equipment. I've brewed 2 more beers since and based on hitting my targets and seeing the fermentations explode in a way that makes the dopamine bounce between my two remaining brain cells, I'm excited to see how much better they'll turn out.

Thanks for the help yall!

Here’s another Spaten brew, Franziskaner premium Hefe-Weissbier. It’s another of wheat beers out of Munich. Spaten is one of the oldies, been around since 1363!

It is another of those spicy clove and phenol flavored wheat beers that I have problems loving. Honestly, it must be that we humans have differing taste thresholds, mine just doesn’t jive with these spicy Hefe-Weizen type beers. I like the milder ones where “that twang” is muted to the point of being GONE, but wow, I just don’t see what the attraction is here.

Nevertheless, I’m plowing forward. This was an additional brew I added to the previous lineup and I’m glad about one thing – it was only available in this 12 ounce bottle. Wow, usually these imports have been using 11.2 ounce bottles, maybe they’re listening, eh? Much better in this case than having to drink my way down to the bottom of a 500ml / 16.9 - ouncer. Woof.
