I didn’t get mine from Ofest, but while I was in Munich I took one from a beirgarten. When you order they give you a mug and a token, if you bring the token and the mug back, they give back part of what you’d paid on ‘renting’ the mug. I just figured I’d rather have the mug since I paid for it anyway. It was a pretty clever way of dealing with people stealing mugs.

That's called "Stealing"... why not just buy one?

Saw this on sale at the local State Liquor Store today (in MT the state has a monopoly on the distribution of distilled spirits; every retailer buys their inventory from the state and the contract-operated state stores pay the lowest markup). A single malt, cask aged, 4 year old Irish for $35. So, I had to try it. Aged in sherry casks, it’s pretty sweet, but fairly smooth for it’s age. I wouldn’t want to drink it every day but it’s worth having on the shelf.

It’s the same thing as buying them. They sell the mugs individually, but when you get it filled they overcharge to compensate for the mug. Hence the token. You return the token and the mug and you get what you paid for the mug. Or you keep the mug. I opted for the mug.

Start with what they tell you on their website as far as any ingredients. Make an Old Ale recipe that matches anything they tell you. % alc, color, ibu, etc. Then do the oak thing. I never heard of any bourbon aged in maple syrup barrels. Even Angels Envy doesn’t do that
I know others are doing this with stouts especially....barrel aging beers in bourbon barrels that most recently were used to age maple syrup. It is a thing. Founders has done this before too and that's the basis of their Canadian breakfast stout (CBS). TBH, the first time I read about it I was a bit worried it would come across as too sweet, but it typically doesn't if done right. Love CBS but Better Half is in a class by itself IMO. Love that beer and tempted to start chilling one now that I have aging.

Mortalis & Imprint Collab. Untappd’s Description:
This Fruited Sour was brewed in collaboration with Imprint Beer Co. It blends Strawberry, Pineapple, Coconut, and cream together to form just one of this monster’s many heads. Keep your eyes peeled for even more flavor combinations. Contains dairy products.

This is the most unbeer like beer I’ve ever had. It’s creamy, fruity and tart but definitely only one and done. Plus I only have this one can.

Founders is making some great beers these days. I’m a big fan of Backwoods Bastard. I have a couple bottles left of 2018 forward
