Yes, yes there is. When beers are going to age for 18 months+ and I know they aren't ready, sampling is unnecessary.

Man I want to brew but if I avoid going to the LHBS shop then I may clean my house. Or go make a mash paddle. Probably make a mash paddle. Cleaning houses is the pits.
