Been rainy most of the week here, oh well, we needed it. Localish hazy, pretty good, not quite as orange as the pic suggests.
One more hazy at North Park, Dream Collector, hopped with Citra, Vic Secret, Rakau, and Galaxy.
Been pouring here for...ever... I guess we're having a "normal" spring. For the last five years I've thought about spring trout fishing but it would be floods and then straight to heat. This year it's nice, cool and wet. This week the mountains are still getting snow. Trying coordinate completing my project so I can take a week off.

From those forecasts you'd have thought roofs would be flying but it's not that exciting, just endless wetness mixed with unseasonable cold.

Hay Bale Hazy IPA at North 20 Brewing, in Rosemount. Delicious beer, and in a beautiful spot looking out onto a huge open field with dense woodlands behind it.

Yup. Luckily we can handle it. Last couple of years it would head north to our mountains where they just can't handle it and get flooded.

Uh oh, the keg is starting to make creaking noises, so it sounds like this'll be one of my last few pours of helles. It was a nice keg, but I'm looking forward to the German pils that is waiting patiently in the fermenter.
Moving up in ABV, today’s next up is Piraat Ale. This is a 10.5% ABV Ale. I noticed on the box, all of these are what they are calling “Living Beer” due to the secondary fermentation process. I guess that means these are bottled conditioned beers, similar to a lot of craft and home brews out there.
Piraat is breed by Brouwerij Van Steenberge, Ertvelde, Belgium, since 1784.
Taste thresholds vary person to person, I’m picking up a bit of “brand new plastic food storage container” essence. Not sure why, those are usually fermentation related off-flavors, maybe another drinker might not pick it up. Of course these bottles have been shipped halfway across the globe, so all sorts of mishandling evils could have occurred from there to here.
10.5% Ales are big beers. You really need to like alcohol if you are looking for a 10.5% brew. A lot of yeast don’t even survive at those levels, or not very long anyway. I think I’m going to blend a Budweiser Zero into the back end of this to make it a bit more drinkable. OK beer otherwise!

That's a real shame to hear. Although I haven't had a Piraat in more than twenty years (and the label was way cooler back then), I certainly remember it being anything but fatiguing. Quite the opposite, in fact. That stuff was dangerously guzzle-able.
How do you say no to that?

This is a great, local goto when you want something IPA- like with a lower abv. Coming in at a sessionable,, 5.5%

A fella could have a pretty good weekend in Vegas with that.
Haven't had Piraat in years, but always thought it was kind of Duvel's big brother. Either of those beers will really creep up on you, as they go down WAY too easy.
I need to seek that out again.

Welp, while we're on the Piraat thing, here's my little story. Way back in the 2000s, several of us got together to do a makeshift FotD. We agreed to buy a pack then split 1 amongst ourselves. This is how we got to know different beers and beer styles relatively quickly. I bought a pack distribute. By coincidence, another dude bought a pack of Golden Monkey. This when I knew I liked these Belgians. My buddy said he took one sip and drain poured both.... uncultured swine!
That 1/2hr went by fast...
