Got back from our road trip to the NY Finger Lakes. Unpacked, mowed the lawn, now having a HB Exportbier.

Have to go into a bi weekly meeting. Had the classic decision leaving work: take a right and Treehouse is 9 minutes away or take a left and test rush hour traffic and hit a new brewery location. Just off the highway and halfway home ?10 minutes?. Manager has been pushing to be physically in the office.

Taking a left was the wrong choice. Took me an hour and just as bad the rest of the way home. This brewery has another location. It's meh. It feels weird just ordering an IPA and not a Galactic Quava Boat Haze IPA.

It's been a while since I've felt a bit zany, but I've been feeling a bit zany all week so I decided to do what I do when I feel a bit zany and broke out the filthy plastic peanut jar and I filled it with the first Helles I've made that I'm actually sorta okay with. Honestly, it’s more of a pils than a helles, which explains why I'm not staring daggers at it. Used Bestmaltz' Heidelberg malt for the first time in this recipe. It's a very nice malt, far more flavorful than I was expecting. I'll be using it again.
