Well, I admit to not being a glassware snob, but when brewing in the garage, if my beer gets knocked over, I only have to clean up spilled beer, not broken glass.

I use a tulip (I think that's what it's called) for everything. I almost had a knock-down-drag-out with my nephew when I implied it's not important to put an IPA in some particular of glass or another. I backed off when I saw which way the wind was blowing.
I will say, to appreciate a beer, it's important to get it out of the bottle. The bottle isn't the worst but you do miss some of the nice smells.
