Hi Folks,

I am looking for a good clone recipe for the original Weihenstephner (not a heffewiesen) since that can be easily found.

I know this so far:

IBU/EBU of 21
ABV of 5.1
yeast WLP830

Any ideas for the rest of the recipe?

Thanks!

I wouldn't be surprised if it's as simple as 100% pilsner malt & 1 noble hop for bittering only. there may be a decoction or two...

I thought it was 50/50 pils and wheat malt?

I make a beer with tett at that IBU and feel that it's close.

There's a clone on here somewhere on the innneernets

I like this beer a lot but I think the "clone" part will be more with process rather than ingredients. WL830 is a go to German lager yeast but it will make a sweeter lager (which always tastes great). Weihenstephaner O has a real biscuity/bready character when you get a good example. WL 838 has a little more character but can't say it is the one... Imho this is a tough beer to clone without making it in the oldest brewery on earth!

it isn't a clone but makes a nice Helles...
80/20 Pilsner/Vienna
simple infusion @ 152
Spalt to 20-25 IBU + an oz @ KO
shoot for an og around 1.050, fg around 1.010

This one has been close for me.
