Copy that, so does this look normal for 13 gallons of water? My first time brewing with electricity. Just dont want to drop 60-80$ in material only to have an issue etc with my boil.

Linky no worky. Lots of people agree that a gently rolling boil is all thats needed, including some of the pros. Modern grain is highly modified and produces little to no DMS, which is what you're hoping to drive off during the boil. Some brewers do short or even no boils(!) with lots of success. Without watching the video, I suggest brewing a few batches to assess the flavor. I've never tasted DMS myself, but it is supposed to taste like creamed corn and be fairly obvious.

You might want to consider insulating your kettle to get the most performance out of the element. I use 3 layers of reflectix wrapped around and set it on a silicone sink mat to isolate the bottom from my metal brew stand. You could set it on a piece of plywood or even better on a piece of furnace board, conductive heat losses would be greatly reduced and all that extra energy would go into boiling harder.

That’s a good idea! I’ll check Home Depot later today. My brewstand is wood, like the design KAL uses, and I have a .25” cork underlayment under each kettle. I’ll have to try the wrap though.
