Would this work as a mild?

4 lb (74.4%) Dry Light
9.0 oz (10.5%) Crystal Malt 60°L
5.0 oz (5.8%) Chocolate Malt
8.0 oz (9.3%) Carapils®/Carafoam®

1.0 oz (50.0%) East Kent Goldings (5.0%) - added during boil, boiled 60 min 1.0 oz (50.0%) Fuggle (4.8%) - added during boil, boiled 5 min

1.0 ea White Labs WLP022 Essex Ale Yeast (Harvested from previous batch)

Original Gravity: 1.040
Terminal Gravity: 1.010
Color: 17.51 °SRM
Alcohol: 3.88%
Bitterness: 21.2

Makes 5.25 Gallons

Looks pretty solid and to style. I'd maybe sub a little Special B for some of the Cara. Like 2 oz. or so.

Never brewed a mild and personally don't have much experience at all with the style, but Papazians book recommends no Crystal, .25/.50lb Black patent, and also no finishing hops. The chocolate malt is within his profile, and I'm sure the C-pils won't matter much.

Again, no personal experience, but I know his book is pretty money most of the time.

I was thinking the c pils for mouthfeel since they recommend that for low abv beers. Let's see about the crystal. I was thinking for a beer like this with the chocolate you wont need the 60l Might be too much.

Lowered it to 5 Gal even with the suggestions given.

Oh, I meant reduce the amount. Keep 6 oz of the Cara for body and about 2 oz of Special B for a little more aroma.

Daver, one thing you have to remember about almost all DME is that it already has SOME C-pils in it.

Obviously, if you'd still like to boost the body/foam/mouthfeel you are more than welcome to toss some more in it.

It would seem so.
