I made my first cider recently and it's sitting in secondary right now at 0.98. I want to carbonate and back sweeten in when it goes into the bottle. I've read several opinions on what to do including flavorings and concentrate.

I'm leaning towards using concentrate...what quantities would I need and do I have to pasteurize?

Would I be better off just adding apple flavoring and carbing with corn sugar?

Thanks for any help you can offer.

One 12-oz can of concentrate per gallon is around ten points (not positive but somewhere around that), so after carbing that would be semi dry. Depending on what you want maybe add more, or add non fermentable sweetener as well? Dunno about your og, but it's likely your yeast will carb that up pretty quick so bottle some in plastic and monitor diligently. May take less than a day to carb this way so be careful and pasteurize immediately when ready. See forum sticky for details on that process.
