The other weekend I went to awesome Aurora, IL with SWMBO (who likes casinos, which I don't get) for a night of fun outside of the city (i don't know why, but whatever).

To my chagrin, I noticed that there wasn't a whole lot going on there, although the city itself has some cool locales/visuals for sure. This was until I noticed our hotel was situated right next to a place called Walter Payton's Roundhouse.

It was pretty cool, it was a neat old mill or something that he converted into an amusement park for adults with three bars and restaurants and stuff. On top of that there was a brewpub inside! I thought, "great now there's something for me and the SWMBO," until I tried the beer...

It was... alright to be forgiving but for a place that had its brewery on premise I found a lot to be desired after tasting all they had to offer.

Anyone else ever been here or tried it/hated it?

I used to work out that way. I'd stop in after work every now and again. It was always jusk O.K. (in terms of food and beer). I guess it's better than the usual miller lite and wings places. They used to have a nice cigar room (i don't know if it's still there post ban) and you could bring your beer over and have a stogie. It used to get real crowded. The outside patio was nice in the summer sometimes the live music was good...

My buddy's wedding was out there and we stayed in the same hotel you're staying in.

Town of Aurora - CRAP.
Roundhouse - Slightly better than crap.
Casino - CRAP + PEE

I've been there a few times to see bands. The beer there isn't awful, but I mostly stick with the Sweetness Stout as I'm normally there to see irish bands. They also have a comedy club on sight, and a pretty extensive collection of Walter Payton memorabilia in the museum (I understand his super bowl ring was returned).
