Okay, so last year SWMBO and I asked my parents for one of these high speed low drag outer space blenders for christmas, and we've been using it fairly often to make juices, smoothies, and even soup on occasion.

It JUST now occurred to me that I could go to the store and buy a bunch of fresh fruit, juice the hell out of it and then use it in a fermentable.

I think the first thing I'll do is some sort of granny smith apfelwein, but banana wine has been calling my name for a while now. Decisions, decisions.

Anyone got any bright ideas? This thing is serious business, you can throw a whole piece of fruit in there and have juice in about thirty seconds, so I can blend up just about anything and ferment it up.

I think I just need to be careful when it comes to the seeds. If I use some type of berries or something with a ton of seeds, will they produce any off flavors if left in the primary?

Apple seeds, cherry seeds, plums pits, and peach pits contain cyanogenic acid (cyanide). Avoid jucing your apple seeds. Berry seeds are not poisonous and are quite good for you. I'm not shure of the flavor contributions of pulverized berry seed however.

yeah I was aware of the apple seeds and pits of certain fruits containing cyanide.

Still wondering if anyone knows about any off flavors coming from the seeds.

I guess we'll just have to find out.
