I would like to re-use some Virgil's root beer bottles, however, I'm not sure if I should re-use the gaskets that came with them.

Gaskets are cheap enough to replace. The issue I am having is with removing the blasted gaskets.

It looks like Virgils has melted or somehow sealed the rubber gasket to the cap. Is there a way to remove the gasket easily? If not, does that mean that I need to go out and buy a whole new flip-top assembly for each bottle?

Yeah, I boiled the bottles for several minutes each to remove the labels. Boiling did jack ****e to loosen the gaskets.

I think Virgils is melting the rubber to the caps so that they are not reusable without replacing the whole flip-top assembly.

Anyone else have a similar experience, or find a way to remove the gaskets?

If the cap and the gasket are dissimilar materials, it's doubtful they can be "melted" together, and it needs to remain flexible, so that kinda' rules out epoxies.

Ya' can't carefully remove one with an Exacto knife or the like, to see what's holding it?

Send Ol' Virgil an e-mail, and ask him what the hell is going on with these caps!.......:D
