First timer here!

I just started to try and grow my own SCOBY with store bought kombucha. I disinfected my glass jar with boiling water and a little bit a vinegar.
It has been two days now and I’m seeing a few of these worm looking things. I read about “vinegar eels” and attempted the light test but nothing happened. Just wondering if anyone can shed some light onto this, and if it’s safe to continue to try and grow the scoby or just start fresh, sterilizing without using vinegar.

from what I've read the eels are only in raw apple cider vinegar. I use white distilled for rinsing anything that comes into contact with my booch. Can't help on if you need to toss it or fix it. Maybe a little protein is good for you......LOL
