For my Birthday this weekend, a few friends and I have planned a trip to Burlington, Vermont (obviously to get some heady) and then heading to Boston, Massachusetts for a few days. Was wondering if anyone could give some good brewery recommendations along with their favorite beers?

Jeeze, I honestly don't know what's open right now. We're kinda tied up with this pandemic thing and all and it's put a serious crimp on things like bars, pubs, brewery tours and all. I was hoping to check out a big chunk of automation at Wachusetts brewery last week but they weren't having it - best one could do was a drive-by crowler/growler pickup. And I'm pretty sure none of the beer gardens ala Treehouse or Trillium are open, either. Both are drive-by pickup only as well right now.

I see the Sam Adams Jamaican Plains brewery is open for tours/sampling but the conditions are tight - reservations for sure, small groups, short-ish stays. Under normal circumstances it's a good time; not so sure about that right now.

Bottom line, get your best Google-Fu on...

Cheers!

I was in Burlington this time last year. I had a few Burlington beers and they were not great. I'd recommend Lawsons Finest, Alchemist, Hill Farmstead - all to the east of Burlington (1-2 hour drive from memory). They were the best picks. My preference was Focal Banger over Heady but they were both great. If you go to the Alchemist stop in at Ben and Jerrys for some good ice cream as well. And pick up some maple syrup from one of the local farms. It's a good spot up in the north-east.

Having said the above I don't live in the USA so don't know anything about what is open over there.

It looks like Trillium’s locations at Fort Point and the Fenway are open for on-site consumption but you need to make reservations. The beer garden on the Greenway is closed though.

Treehouse is only open for contactless pickup. I couldn’t find if Alchemist is open for on-site consumption but they have contactless pickup as well. In short you’ll have to figure out where you want to go and plan from there. I don’t know if you have the capability to take everything home with you but that might be your only option with several of these breweries. I also don’t know your level of knowledge about VT/MA breweries but the ones already mentioned are the sort of “heavy hitters” in those areas and normally well worth the trip IMO.

It totally blows because right now would be normally be a perfect time to meander from taproom to taproom.
