Anyone ever gone to the Vegas HB?? I'm curious how authentic it is to the real place in Muenchen. I hear it is actually a transplanted replica of the real thing owned by the same people and staffed with real Germans. :drunk:

If that's true, I've found heaven in the US.

I'm going to Vegas next month on a conference, and am planning on spending some time there.

I'll take plenty of pictures and post when I get back. :mug:

Prost!

While you're there, make sure to walk right past Nine Fine Irishmen. I forget where it is, but it isn't worth remembering.

It's in the NYNY. It's not a bad place, what else do you expect from a casino bar? It's as good as most of the others.

advice taken. . .I'll probably not stray real far from the HB. :tank:

Well, HB is off of Paradise, so you are still reasonably close to the strip for other action.

There is a brewpub in the Monte Carlo and a good one (Triple 7 Brewpub) in Main Street Station downtown. Other members have posted several more good drinking establishments in past threads, you might run a search.

By the way, I'll be there in 1 week & 2 days :rockin: :rockin:

My wife and I go 3-4 times a year. We're gonna move out there once she's done getting her PhD.

They are building a third Haufbrauhaus in the US. There is the Vegas one, one in KY, just accross from Cincinatti, and they are building one in Pittsburgh, PA. My father's company owns the proprty where the P-burgh one will be built. He had lunch with the president of HB-Germany and HB-USA when they flew in to sign the lease.

Is your wife the only person on Earth who has ever uttered the words "Once I get my PhD, I'm going to move to Vegas!..."?

Just really odd, somehow...

Well, we love Vegas, and there are great jobs there for both of us (I'm in Finance, she's in Public Health). Just love the desert and the town :mug:

It's just strange that you point out that specific bar like it's worse than others.

For what it is, it isn't bad.

I'm sorry to have been so negative. I take back what I said, to some extent. It's not a bad bar. I think I visited it after going into many disappointing casino bars and when I saw a sign for it, my wife and I made a special trip to visit it. My expectations were unreasonably high, I'm sure. It did have chiswick ale. :)

Compared to the aforementioned hofbrau, it pales. But you're right, for what it is, it's not a bad bar at all.

Yeah, I like the place compared to many "in-casino" bars. However, it's pretty much standing room only 80% of the time and the service is spotty. They do have a decent selection of beer, though.

I don't go out of my way to go there, but when we stay at NYNY (about 1/3 of the time) we ingest many a beer there.

I don't worry about beer in Las Vegas. When I'm there, I head to the King and I Tai restaurant on Tropicana. It's off the strip and in a strip shopping center with a Von's.

It's the best Tai food in Vegas, great prices, and ice cold Singha beer.

Great service too! I eat there at least 2 to 3 times when I'm in town for some geek conference. I highly recommend it!

AWESOME. .. :rockin: I'll have to check it out.

They need to build a HB here in Peoria. It has a large German population, and I'm sure it would fly. . . . . . I guess I should stop dreaming now.

I've never been to Vegas. My resource hospital is sending me out there for an EMS conference, but seeing as the conference is more aimed at my office staff, and I'm the system director (aka the boss), I think I may have to requisition the HB as my off site headquarters :D

Gemuetlichkeit, here I come.....

Damn. .. I love thai food. They more or less have none in Peoria (only Thai restaurant here sucks--tastes like Chinese food).

I'm already making my list of places to go.

You'll love it! I can't wait to go next week. Where are you staying?

Hmm. . .not real sure right now (you know, booked through work, going with a croud, etc. . . I do know I'm staying at a place that has some sort of Star Trek experience thing with the bridge of the Enterprise in it. I didn't choose the hotel.

The hotel with the Star Trek experience, is the Las Vegas Hilton and it is at 3000 Paradise.
The Hofbräuhaus Las Vegas is at 4510 Paradise Road, across from the Hard Rock Hotel.

Ahh, the Hilton. A ways off the strip, but you have easy access to the new rail to get around.

I'm taking it then that it isn't that far from the Hotel. . . . time to do some google earth.

No not too far. But you may not want to walk it. The blocks are large here and it looks alot closer on a map then it is.

Ok, re-kindling the thread here. . .I'm now in Vegas, approaching the end of my stay. . . so far, have been to the HB twice, and visited the 777 brewing company. (777 is awesome---decent microbrewed beer at the cheapest prices in town). At the Hilton, they charge $7 for a bottle of domestic. At 777, a sampler platter (5, 5oz beers) is only $4.95. A 16 oz is $2.95. If you want a souvenier glass with it, the 16 oz is $4.95. Needless to say, I had to have one of each of their brews, and ended up staggering out.

Tonight I'm going to Gordon Biersch--I've been to a GB before, and their beer is very good.

I have pictures, but the free internet at the Hilton sucks, and my email won't work, so I can't download any from the internet.

Also, I ran into a guy from Bavaria at the HB. He didn't speak very good English, so I had a conversation in German. He indicated the Vegas HB is very close to the Munich HB.

Anyway, pictures forthcoming for anyone wanting to go to Vegas in the future.

Cheers!!:mug:

I was just about to say you need to go to Gordon Biersch and then I see you are.... hehe Also, I know there is a place in the Monte Carlo.... can't remember the name so you may have already hit that.

unfortunately, my wife forgot the camera, so I the pictures I'll be posting are from my cameraphone. I'll be posting when I get back home.

I'm sitting at McCarran Intl airport currently, and they have a Gordon-Biersch in the terminal!! Of course, they don't produce their beer at the airport, but its still pretty damned good.

GB was pretty good last night. The brewery is impressive. I think its about a 15 barrel system. (my estimate).

I have had soooo much beer this week. . . .:drunk: :D

We drove past the Monte-carlo one. . . there's another one down on the old strip in the 4 Queens called the Old Chicago Brewery (or something like that). . . supposedly they brew there too, but you can't see the brewery. I walked in, but it was late, and my company didn't want to stay for a brew.

Oh well. :)

The 4 Queens has a Chicago Brewing Company and Cigar Lounge, they sell their brews but do not brew on site. The Chicago Brewing Company is in an area called the Lakes, out north of town. http://www.chicagobrewingcolv.com/

You also missed Ellis Island Casino & Brewery, where you can get a mirco-brew for a $1.00, and just off of the strip. In the northwest part of town is the Tenaya Creek Brewery and the Draft House with Big Dog Brewery, the old Holy Cow.

Had I had time, and wasn't with a group that wasn't into "that micro stuff," I totally would have made this a beercation.

Anyway, for those that have never been there, I've attached some pics. Sorry for the quality. These were taken with my phone as my wife forgot the camera.
