I made my first batch with an extract, and it turned out really good. Was a big hit at family Christmas. For my next batch I purchased an oatmeal stout extract kit. I want to have it ready for St Patricks Day. I wanted to make it a vanilla oatmeal stout. my questions are these: 1. when do I add the vanilla? primary? secondary? bottling? also I plan to use an imported vanilla extract my wife has in the pantry. for a two gallon batch how much should I use? Any thoughts from the real home brewers is appreciated.
 
I did a 2.5 gallon of a vanilla stout and I used a table spoon and a half of double strength extract. I added to taste and if I was to do it again I might add a little more but I only want a hint a vanilla and not beer flavored vanilla.
