Vanilla beans for Cream Ale

I currently have an American Cream Ale in the latter stages of primary for SWMBO and I want to add vanilla bean(s) for a nice subtle flavor. What do you guys/gals recommend for amounts of vanilla bean, and can I add it now if I plan on leaving on the yeast cake for another week then racking to a keg for conditioning?

Do a search.....but basically:chop vanilla bean up, soak in small amount of vodka for a couple days, add to secondary. Might consider using about half a bean in such a light beer.
