Random question from a new vac sealer owner...

Would vacuum sealing a slant of yeast have any impact positive or negative? I imagine it would help prevent contaminants from entering and I know oxygen can damage cells. I imagine there would be some desiccation of the yeast/agar as the vapor pressure equilibriates but I have no idea how much or what effect this would have. Would it be a good way to send a slant by mail? Sadly, I do not own or have access to a microscope to conduct any trials.

I'd enjoy doing that analysis for you, but honestly the best test of viability and vitality is observing fermentation. You could compare the speed and completeness of the fermentation assess the impact of vacuum sealing.
