Using gelatin to clear

I have about 15 brews under my belt by now and I want to try gelatin to clear. My English ale is done fermentation and I also bottle my beer and prime in the bottle. When and how much gelatin should I add and how should go at it? I'll have to cold crash outside and temperatures are close to freezing if not at freezing at night. Days are in the low to mid 40s. Can I just dump the mix into my plastic carboy and set it outside for a day or two and then bottle without hurting the residual yeast?
 
Get the beer cold before adding gelatin. Try to find a big box or something similar that you can put the carboy in while it's outside, with a bit of insulation (eg. a blanket) to even out the temperature swings a bit. Get the beer cold, add gelatin mixture, leave for another couple of days, then bottle. There will still be plenty of yeast left for carbonation.
 
I tried Gelatine but have found Super F a lot more user friendly, chill the beer and add 1ml per litre and give it a good mix up. I am using a conical so tend to drop the majority of yeast into the bottle before adding the finings. That said the gelatine did work and it should keep the veggies off your beer as well.
