I haven't ever taken my "brewing" seriously, however I wanted to graduate from baker's yeast. I got a gallon of cider and let it go naturally, which is still fermenting. I was wondering if it would work to pour some out to use as a yeast in a different batch. Would the yeast that is actively fermenting be able to work if I were to pour some of it into something such as a gallon of natural grape juice or something similar? I know there is a brewing store a the next town over from me and I could create something that is somewhat tolerable, but Im too cheap and lazy to do so. Just wanted to know if it could work.

The natural occurring yeast in cider is often good but sometimes will taste not so great. Find out how yours tastes after a few weeks, and if it is good, then YES, you can use it for more batches, it should work fine. Good luck!
