Does it matter if you sprinkle the yeast at the bottom of your fermenting bucket before you poor your wort in. I did that last night and wasn't sure if that would effect my beer.

Yes,it does, insomuch as you take your hydrometer sample before you pitch the yeast. Not to mention, getting the wort & top off water mixed well 1st.

Though not recommended practise, I wouldn't expect it to affect your beer.

For future reference follow the manufacturer's instructions carefully. This often (but not always) includes rehydrating your yeast.

I didn't top it off with water. I boiled all 5 gallons. And I took the hydrometer reading before I poured the wort into the fermenting bucket.

So, with no top off and having already taken a hydrometer reading, will it affect the outcome of my beer.

I usually do follow the instructions pretty carefully, but with the common practice of drinking while brewing, it caught up with me.

Thanks guys. We will see in a few weeks.
