We have been running our fermentation fridge for most of the summer with the cheap 1 channel STC-1000 type controller. Since it has been warm we have only needed to cool things down but the last week has seen colder temps and it was time to add some heat!

I've been spending way too much money on our upcoming eHERMs setup so cheap was the name of the game. Because we are using a small fridge (3/4 size) I didn't have room for the large paint can heater and two carboys. I ended up getting a pint sized pain can and making the heater from that!

Parts for paintcan heater $8 - sorry for the poor quality pic

The light switches allow me to easily switch between the heater and the fridge using the STC-1000. One day I'll upgrade to a controller that can do both automatically switch between heating and cooling, but I had all the parts in my garage for this project!
