3.25 gallon wheat beer at 1.042 and 66f. I pitched the yeast at 4:30 pm and saw a very small hint of foam at 8 pm. At 7 am I saw a 1/8 inch layer of foam and no airlock activity. At noon the airlock was burping faster than once a second with a thick layer of foam. At 8 pm the foam had fallen and no more airlock activity.

That is weird. Soap residue or sanitizer maybe kill the krausen? Or some kind of oil in there? Was this perhaps first time use of a bucket o' frosting? Just wild guesses, they are likely all wrong. Just does seem very odd for this strain to fall back in so quick, usually takes many weeks.

No soap or oil; this is my usual brew bucket. And I've never had this quickness before with any brew in it. I did my usual sanitizing.
The last time I used it it was done in two days and the time before that five days. The only thing I can think of is the temperature may be the issue. The previous two batches were fermented in the low-mid 60s and this one was in the 74-76 range.
