Below Are two water reports for my water in my area.

Referencing John Palmer How to Brew book.(Specifically Page 161-162) On the chapter understanding the Mash PH it looks like you need to know the Ca-calcium, Mg-Magnesium, and Alkalinity to find out the mash PH.

Is either of the charts above what I need to be able to calculate this.

I have looked them both over and don't think I have what I need to calculate my Mash ph.

If not should I call the water company and ask for a more detailed analysis or what should I specifically ask for?

Thanks so much!

Yea, you'll need to contact them and see if they have any more information on mineral content-- or send a sample to Ward labs.

However, I did notice through reading that they use CHLORAMINE, to treat water. So be sure to treat your water with campden tablets if you are not already doing so!

or.....for 20$ you can get a much more precise water report of your own tap water by using ward labs. Just send them a water sample and you'll get a fast analysis by email

Where does it cost 20$ to send to Ward labs. I looked on the site and it cost 36$??

I got the w-6 mineral test. 21$ (excluding shipping though)

I am new to AG. What ever happened to "if you can drink the tap water then it's good enough to brew with"? Also isn't knowing your water profile only important if you're getting poor mash effenciency?
