Getting ready to build a new keezer. My first was a rushed together pretty much built in a day keezer when I decided I was switching to kegging. Functionally great, but definitely improvements I would like to make. I've been a woodworker way longer than a brewer and always wanted to make a bar. Now that I'm a brewer I want my next bar to be a bar/keezer combo.

I ended up a while back with a chunk on the basketball court form my favorite college team and want to incorporate it into the bar top. The way I want to build the bar top though I think is going to be pretty heavy/bulky to all include in the keezer lid. My thought is to split this into two pieces. A pretty typical coffin style keezer with the coffin and diptray built into the lid and then a separate "shell" for the bar. My thought is have both on casters so when I need to change kegs/clean I can move the shell away and have better access. I think the trick will be figuring out the transition between the two pieces so it looks like all one unit when together. I have thoughts on how to make it work but wondered if anyone had done anything like this to learn from.

Its probably just me but the way you describe what you want is a bit unclear. Maybe quick sketch will give me a better idea of what you are looking for.

Of course you can incorporate the section of BB court into the bar top thats probably the easy part. I am just guessing here but if it were me I would build the bar top and coffin as a permanent structure. The chest freezer can be on wheels with insulated lines long enough to slide it under the bar or out to change kegs.

hi, im currently building something that might me similar to what you are thinking of.

Its a 3" PVC pipe tower that will be installed in a quartz countertop (anchored to the wall), and a wooden cabinet with retractable doors to have access to the chest freezer.

I have made a 60mm wooden collar to cut the holes for the "umbilical" line that will connect the freezer to the tower. There will be a 3/4" conduit connected to a fan box to circulate cool air to the tower and a 1/2" return line. The 3/4" line will have a cut where the four tap 1/4" tubings will go into so they are kept cool.

Im not sure if this air cirulating system will be enough but as a start, im sticking to it.

Sorry I mad this post a while back and then life got busy and never replied to purplehaze's response.

Mariopareto got the gist of what I was looking for. Basically I my plan for a bar is bigger than I want to support on the lid of the keezer. My original thought was something like below. With the first picture being while in service and the green box being the coffin/drip tray and blue being the bar top/bar. The second picture shows the bar pulled away to change kegs etc. I think this could be done but making a nice transition between the two pieces seems like a pain.

The idea of a separate keezer inside that rolls out is a much better idea. I think I originally shied away from that idea to not have to worry about cooling the lines between the keezer and bar but there are ways to manage that.
