Has anyone ever tried to make their own version of twisted tea? I want to try making some and im not sure what to use

Thanks i checked it out and figured i would try a extremely simple way and only do a 1 gallon batch. I used 1 pound light dme and 4 cans of nestea lemon iced tea frozen concentrate in roughly 2L of water which filled my fermentor perfectly and came out at 1.075 og. I used a teaspoon of nottingham ale yeast and I think once it hits 1.030 i will taste it and see as i want it to still be sweet. Cost me $20 so i figured why not try it lol

O ya and when i tested it i tasted it and it tasted great! But only time will tell if it still tastes great when its done

Please let me know how it turns out. I was looking for a recipe for a twisted tea clone for my wife when I found this site. I'm on my 3rd recipe now.

Ya i will post the results. It seemed too easy to turn out good but fingers crossed i guess lol

Well its already down to the fg i want. 1.030 to try keep it sweet but it tastes weird. All iced tea flavor is gone and theres no flavor from the malt extract just a strange lemon flavor. I added 2 cups of real tea i steeped with 4 tea bags each and its better but now im going to pretty much freeze it to stop fermentation and then see how it is. Any thoughts on if you were to ferment only dme and to a high og then add tea when its done

Are you saying start with the lemonade and dme? Then add the tea flavor at the end. I've made several hard lemonades and enjoyed them. Got a 5 gal batch going right now I could flavor some of it with tea. Well its a lemon-limeade.

I haven't used DME yet though I've got some "in stock" now to work with for different recipe. I'll take a stab at it myself. I'm good at taking notes as I go and I'll post my results and let you know

I totally forgot about this post but all my results weren't very good so if anyone comes up with a successful batch i would love to hear about it
