I have 2 used Coca Cola kegs and am not sure what to do. Someone told me I still need to add the priming sugar in the keg with the beer and then connect it to the CO2. I though the CO2 would carbinated the beer by itself. Also, can I carbinate it and then chill it and then serve it or does it need to be done simultaneously? Any help would be appreciated

You can do one of two methods, both have been discussed extensively on these forums. One, you can carbonate using priming sugar. Two, you can force carbonate. I carbonate my kegs using priming sugar. To do so, I add 3 to 4 oz. of corn sugar, boiled and dissolved in water, into the keg. Then I siphon the beer on and close it up. Then I pressurize the keg to 30 psi. This is only to seat the lid so that it is leak tight while the yeast do the rest of the work. Then you leave it at room temperature for at least two weeks to carb up and then you can either continue to store or put it in the fridge and enjoy a homebrew.

For force carbing, maybe someone else will chime in, or you could just use the search function.

So I read a little more on the threads and think I have a grasp on the carbination process. I have coca cola kegs and they dont have the obvious pressure relief valve the you pull to release pressure. So how do you do it? Do you just push the pin in on the out line to purge it or something?
