True Brew Fermenter Lid Cleaning

Ok searched a ton and can't find an answer to this. On the brew I racked to the keg last night I had crazy fermentation (and learned to use a blow-off hose). I cleaned the True Brew fermenter last night and the bucket is good to go. However, I am having a real hard time getting all the kreusen out of the lid where the bucket snaps in. I took the rubber ring out and cleaned that, but I am trying to clean the inside channel and am wondering if anyone has any suggestions!?

Have you tried soaking in oxyclean or pbw?

I tried soaking in oxyclean last night in the sink, but couldn't keep it down in the water and then couldn't really scrub it well with my brush. I am wondering if a new brush is in order? Or perhaps something cool I don't even know about!?

Not trying to be a smartass, but that's what's called a "grommet". It's more fun to say than "rubber ring" too

Also I've found that throwing stuff with stuck on "malty" stains into the dishwasher with heat dry does the trick. Kinda like how you sanitize your bottles in a dishwasher. Give it a shot

I think he was referring the the o-ring that seals the lid to the bucket.

I would use a airlock brush to clean the crud off. You can find one at the LHBS.

Yeah sorry I should have clarified, I am not speaking of the grommet, I am talking about the white o-ring that is included in the lid to seal.

Huh. Mine doesn't have a rubber seal on the lid. Just the rubber grommet for the airlock nozzle.

Most of the true brews have a seal in the lid so that it is air tight.

These are $2.60 at the LHBS (which is across the highway from our offices at work) before I spent more than a little time diddling with it, I'd retire the lid to "garden" duty and just grab a fresh one. I actually bought 2 or 3 extra when I was getting started to be sure I had spares around (same with airlocks).

Tooth brush. Small head. Soft bristle.

I gonna say soak oxi then small brush or rag it, then soak in Sanitizer.

Remove the O ring and grommet. Soak everything in warm water and OxyClean in teh kitchen sink. If the lid floats, weigh it down with a mixing bowl full of water. It should be pretty clean after an hour or so soak. Reassemble and sanitize. You should be good to go.
