Trub removal question???

Hello to all

I keep reading about hotbreak/trub removal by whirlpool....is this really necessary if you have a false bottom in your BK?
In addition, if you are using whole (dried) hops wouldn't this act as an additonal filter bed?

I have been reading that a lot of brewers just dump the trub and hotbreak into their fermenters when making ales, lagers no.

I do this and have had no issues with it.

There is a thread on HBT talking about the benefits of leaving in the trub, helps the yeast somehow, I'm posting on my phone or I'd search for it.
