This is a beer transerfer pump and controller I put together. It uses a 110V Shurflo 2088-594-154 industrial diaphram pump. Shurflo says the pump is rated to 170F. It may be a bit overbuilt but hobbies are supposed to be fun, right? Three switches are: Power, constant on and momentary. It also has a LED that is on when the power switch is flipped. I can take pics of inside the controller or explain anything if anyone is interested. I have about $126 invested with bunch of spare parts for the next project. I chose the cutting board because it has a handle made into it. I like doing these so I would assemble one for free if someone wanted one. Sure you can buy one with a regular power cords, but where the fun in that. I just finished it and haven't used it yet. I'm still waiting on the fittings to arrive.

That hella cool! I originally wanted just a simple drill pump then I started looking at 12v pumps but the bug bit me and I kept looking more and more into it. Now that I think of it, I think my hobby is actually researching things to buy than actually doing anything...

I have the same problem. Bought the pump to save my back from lifting kettle from floor to burner (at least that what I told my wife.) Now I'm researching RIMS and HERMS. :p

I love it. Love the design and setup.

I'm going to have to build one myself.

Two questions:

1) Can you take those pics of the inside?

2) You have "Screw Cap AGC Fuseholder Black* $3.88" listed on there...but parts-express.com shows them for .97 ... are you using 4 as I only see on in the picture and video?

1) Below is a pic of the inside. You can see the power supply on the left hand side which is used to power the LED. I disasembled an extra phone charger I had lying and broke it down to just the board. I soldered directly to the board on the 120V side and spliced on the 12V side Fuse and plug are on the bottom right. I used a hot glue gun to keep the wires in place(top middle) and to secure the 12V power supply

2) One fuseholder is all that is needed, I messed up on the order and didn't notice it till I had three extras on the table.

* I've been using it twice a week since it was built and it works wonderful. I recommend using the Sureflo barbed connectors vice your standard stainless steel ones. The Sureflo have thumb wing nuts which makes them easy to take on and off. Everything is hand tighten only and I've never had a leak. I bought the SureFlo filter but have found it isn't fine enough to catch anything as far as beer goes and it causes turbulence.

Life Lesson #006 - Do not marvel at your pump and control box while transferring wort. That leads to life lesson #007 - Carboys fill much faster than siphoning when using a pump. Which in turns leads to life lesson #008 -Wort makes floors friggin' sticky. :mug:

Can you let me know how many of each part is needed. Also directions to build if possible. Ps I've never done anything electrical before but I still want attempt it. Closest I've gotten was repairing my laptop. But I can follow directions.

Would you change anything in your set up now?

Also I make liqueurs using fruits ,loose tea or coffee. Would I be able to use this with one of the filters to move liquids from infusion to the end.
