(The Alaskan is really a homebrew)

And a moment of silence for a fallen comrade...

Ah man that sucks.. I had a similar bottle that was shipped to me (maine brewing type bottle) that broke that same way. I'm not sure if it's a coincidence or what. I'll have to get you another of the Apollo-bot though. Love that beer. damn

It happens - part of the risk involved in trading. I was just glad they delivered it since it was obviously leaking hoppy goodness everywhere :)

Hi Chris.
Living in Lolo I'm only about 10 miles away from Wildwood brewery. The Bock is my favorite but they just started canning the White bark wheat a couple of weeks ago and it's great also. The Owner/ Brewer at Wildwood is a great guy. If anyone wants to read up on wildwood check out their website and stop in if you ever get the chance. The brewery is beautiful.

The second box has the real gems in it but that is going to be a few more days. They better not break that one!

I would love to check out that brewery next time I am down. I normally just stick to the ones in downtown Missoula. My favorite brewery is Homestead Ale's up in Eureka, they have a stellar IPA.

I hope saison Clint hooked you up with some HB saison

Actually I think Mcbaumannerb, MrNickVT, Remmy, MTate37, and BrewinHooligan have all tried the saison 'AS11' aka Shipwreck saison. That's probably why I ran out of it so quickly. I shipped it all over the country :ban:

PM me on here the next time you get down to Missoula and we will have to meet up for a beer. I personally like the Bitterroot breweries better Blacksmith, Wildwood, Higherground, and Bitterroot are all great. But I would drink a Bayern, or Kettlehouse beer if you twisted my arm ;)

That was a poorly kept secret, haha. And now it's commercial.

I'm hoping to get a chance to brew sometime soon and do that recipe with the magic yeast :D

Magic yeast? It was secret alright. Just as much of a secret as the space shuttle in my driveway.

Thats insane that store owners can get away with gouging that goes on from brewery to customer.

As someone said earlier im sure the breweries themselves do not like the gouging either as it can discourage not rich people (read: me) from
Buying their products.

Thanks for sharing and that is an awesome haul you got there. I remember when you posted it originally. Cheers and enjoy.

Was listening to bn army podcast yesterday and they had the head Brewster on and he was shocked at how much we pay here

Do you guys do anything special when packing this time of year? Is it a worry for beers freezing and breaking in the packages?

I put a hold on trading... It's been over 10 below here for about a week and the last thing I need is a box of frozen beers bouncing around on a fedex truck. It should be warming up soon but I'll probably have shipments routed to the fedex store so they're not sitting on my porch.

Or you can send big imperials, RIS, and barleywines :D. I have never had a box freeze but I could see it happen with some session beers for sure.

I have a feeling even a heavy ABV would freeze this week. Here's a quick video from my local tavern showing how cold it's been

Yeah, I'm going to wait a little while I think. That video is great, thanks!

I have multiple packages being held for me and I'm waiting to send out until the thaw next week. East coast weather next week keeps us above freezing for the first few days if I remember right.
