Been searching on the forum for a previous thread but only found people who wanted an almond flavor. My problem is the opposite i get at the back end of the flavors a nutty taste (a distinct taste of almond).
Here is the recipe:
2.59 kg Pale Ale (2-row) (6.0 EBC) Grain 1 60.4 %
0.50 kg Crystal 100 (110.0 EBC) Grain 2 11.7 %
0.50 kg Crystal 300 (330.0 EBC) Grain 3 11.7 %
0.20 kg Wheat (6.0 EBC) Grain 4 4.7 %
0.10 kg Black (1500.0 EBC) Grain 5 2.3 %
0.10 kg Chocklad Malt (450.0 EBC) Grain 6 2.3 %
35.00 g Magnum [14.00 %] - Boil 60.0 min Hop 7 88.4 IBUs
30.00 g Saaz [4.00 %] - Boil 15.0 min Hop 9 11.8 IBUs
4.00 g Fining agent (Swedish brand) (Boil 10.0 mins) Fining 10 -
30.00 g Saaz [4.00 %] - Boil 5.0 min Hop 11 4.7 IBUs
0.30 kg Honey [Added when cooling] (1.0 EBC) Extract 8 7.0 %
And 30 gram of Saaz for dryhopping. Trying to mellow the nutty flavors down.
Yeast used: Mauribrew Ale 514 at 21 C
How can i minimize this taste for the next brew?
My suspicion is the Pale ale 2 row malt. Tried doing a pale ale with Safale US-05 but had similar results.
Thanks in advance & happy hopping!
