So with all the posts on people scoring good stuff on C-list, I just though I'd share the darker side of C-list. Luckily I didn't waste too much gas or time on this but I saw a 10 dollar 10 gallon beverage cooler. I called the guy he said yeah it is 10 gallons and big and in good condition, only used it for water. When I got there, it was 10 years old, beat to hell, cracked and to top it off only 5 gallons! I thought it was a good price but it should have been in the trash.

So not all things nice live on C-list, get a PHOTO before you waste any time.

Yeah, I guess I just wanted to bitch a bit after all these jerks are gloating on their awesome swag. I have gotten some good stuff in the past though, and I did just find a 5 gallon glass carboy in my condo's trash heap

What really gets me is the sellers who complain because I'm asking questions about what they are selling. I'd rather not drive 40min to see someone's "lot's of homebrewing gear" if they don't have anything I want. Just because they toss up a few pics of a converted MLT, they think someone is going to buy their whole lot of gear. If you post "too much to list", you are lazy and really don't want to sell your crap.

Always use caution when on C list.

I did have a run of good luck with my find there though. I purchased all this from an older gentleman who no longer brews his own been. He had it all in a nice plastic tote. The following package all for 200 bucks.

1- Brass tower with brass tap and hoses
1- Tower clamp
1- 3 gallon Rubbermaid cooler with a stainless chiller coil inside - two hoses to hook it up to keg
1- Tap handle
1- CO2 regulator (NEW still in original package)
1- Assorted bottling stuff

I had one recently where I thought I was finding myself a 3gallon corny keg in amongst a bunch of other random stuff, all for $20. I called, he says yep 3 gallon keg!

I get there and it's a plastic container sorta shaped like a keg with a spigot on the bottom, it's all yellowed by age and beer...ugh, gross. Fail.

Never ever make beer in a foreign used plastic vessel aside from a syrup container or similar. I don't care what is said by the owner, you don't know what bodily fluids and other toxic stuff may have come in contact with it and what microscopic cracks that the fluid may have absorbed in.

i drove about 30 miles cause i saw brewing stuff on a post...got there and it was a brewers best kit for 50...with no ingredients and a mr beer keg for 20 bucks....

although i scored a 20lb co2 w/ regulator, carboy, cut keggle, and a bunch out taps and facets and stuff for $39 2 weeks ago...

C list in my area sux. Buying used in my area generally fares little better. Sellers thinking their beat up old crap is worth retail. "Does that freezer work" Works great! Get there and its old rusted and in the basement. The refrigerant is gone, it doesn't get cold and I question the condition of everything in the dampness.

Doofus! Just because you hear it come on doesn't mean it works great, and no, rusted out isn't very good shape.

CL is very busy here. I find sankes and cornies all the time and the listings disappear in minutes- srs. Lots of a-holes wanting $100 + for sankes.

Yeah, that kills me. I don't understand why all these people think a sanke is worth that. The other thing I laugh about is how they say "own your own keg and get it refilled - much cheaper". The fact that they think places will refill your keg kind of explains their intelligence level.

I have a hard time buying something from someone who makes their listing sound like they can't be bothered because they're doing you a favor allowing you to buy the crap they don't want anymore.

I had one great purchase from a homebrewer getting out of the hobby because of health reasons. I felt bad for him but we had a good time chatting about his past brewing experiences and my plans for future brews.
