I'm obviously a Noobie...However; I was curious, is there such a thing as too much yeast?...
I'm giving the Mr. Beer thing a shot, but I've always been a type of person that likes to make something my "own", therefore I did a little modification on my first batch.
- added "Mr. Booster", brought water to a boil
- stirred in 1# Muntons DME (amber)
- Back up to boil___threw in .5 oz Fuggles boiled for 40 min
- took off heat____stirred in 1 can Mr. Beer West Coast Pale Ale
- mixed in fermentor
- PITCHED 2 packets of Mr. Beer Dry Yeast (2mg EA)

Thoughts on too much yeast or am I ok? Had a 1 inch head of Krausen in 12 hrs.

P.S. I hate you all for this New Obsession!!!!!

From the Yeast book by Chris White and Jamil Zainasheff:

Too high a pitching rate can result in low or unexpected esters, yeast autolysis flavors, and poor head retention.

In the future you can use this calculator to help you determine proper pitching rates: http://www.mrmalty.com
