Tilt Hydrometer Questions - Moving to secondary

Brewing my first IPA using the Tilt Hydrometer and only my third brew overall. Question is this...when I see that my SG has finally leveled out, how long should I wait before I move the beer to a secondary fermentor? Also, is there any benefit to putting the tilt inside the secondary fermentor? I will be dry-hopping in secondary and I don't know if that makes any difference with whether or not to use the Tilt.

I would say there is little to no benefit, and that I'd rather save the battery on my Tilt. Almost everyone on here, including myself, will also advise you to not even bother with transferring to a secondary as it is extremely unnecessary for a simple dry hop. Typically people only use one for bulk aging or fruit additions. Just throw the hops/dry hop bag in the fermentor.

I almost never transfer to a secondary fermenter. The lone exception so far is big stouts and Porters, where I "secondary" in a keg. Even then, I usually serve out of that keg, so it's really more of an aging process than a true secondary.

I just don't see the value in it.

That said, I don't think I'd bother transferring the tilt (I do use one) to the secondary unless I was expecting more fermentation to take place. You might see some additional fermentation due to the addition of dry hops (hop creep), but I don't think there'd be value to having the tilt in there.
