I ordered one of these last week....should be getting it sometime this week.

I'm curious about software. I've seen people set them up so that they update a spreadsheet on their google drive and can monitor fermentation from anywhere.

Will the playstore app support this or do you have to do a raspberry pi solution to get there? I have a RPi, but no display for it at the moment. I also have a tablet I can leave by the fermenter while I'm fermenting.

What's the scoop?

I use a $30 Fire tablet next to the ferm chamber, and view the results on Google sheets. I just enter my gmail address in the app and it sets everything up and sends me the link.

i got one for Christmas. If you go the phone/tablet route you have to leave it on, meaning "screen on" continuously as it won't update even if the phone/tablet goes to sleep. I quickly switched to a RPi setup, really easy to do and you don't need a monitor hooked up beyond the setup/file load. I used a RPi Zero W, loaded the image from Tilt website, setup the wifi & beer name customization file and the RPi was logging updates within 10 minutes of me opening the RPi box.

I can access the cloud log anytime, from anywhere to get updates. Love it !!!!!

I can't get any of that stuff to work on my flip phone...
The Tilt requires Bluetooth 4.0 or higher. From the FAQ page:
Q. Is the Tilt compatible with Apple/iOS smartphones and tablets?

A.Yes. Any iPhone 4S or newer (with Bluetooth 4.0) or any iPad Mini or iPad 3 or newer (with Bluetooth 4.0) should work.

Q. Is the Tilt compatible with Android phones and tablets?

A. Yes, in general most Android phone or tablet with Bluetooth 4.0 and Android OS version 4.3+. See our list here: http://tilthydrometer.com/pages/compatible-android-device-list

I use the Google sheets option and haven't had any issues with the sheet updating when the screen turns off. Only time I have any issue is when I have the tablet too far away to receive or when the Tilt app updates. Oh and there seems to be a bug in the app that causes it to stop updating if you don't back out of the settings menu after entering the sheet url.

Tablet is fairly close to stock android 6.0, no root, etc.

Hmm, maybe it's only like that for iOS. I even messaged tilt and they said "yep, won't update if it goes to sleep"

Not too big a deal for me, got the whole RPi kit for $25, and it let me get familiar with 'em. Might even start building some RPi webcams so I can watch the airlock bubble. [emoji16]

Im using an old iphone 4s with a badly cracked screen. Set it to never autolock and placed on top of fridge/fermentation chamber linking to BrewStat.us and it is working great. Sunday's brew got off to a quick start...
