Ok i am about to brew my next batch (my fourth ever) and i have decided to do an IPA. So i need to know from you well experienced beer geniuses, what brew i should do.

Now due to my novice background i prefer kits (yes i said that, dont judge) even worse i do not have the equipment needed for all grain brewing, so i will need malt extract kits. Or if a recipe is easy enough, i can do that. But think drunk monkey easy.

Here is where the judgement really comes out, i am still developing into a beer snob. (beer snob = saying no to miller lite, bud lite, and other urine-tasting beers). Therefore, i have not fully developed preferences nor tried many varieties of IPAs. So please do not suggest something extremely bold, however i want something flavorful.

If you do suggest something. Please let me know any helpful hints that are not on the instructions or recipe. I.e., keep in primary 2 weeks longer, add the hops earlier, etc.

Thank you all for your time,
future beer snob

P.s., sorry for the terrible grammar.

Well, if you want to brew an IPA, then you will soon be tasting a bold beer. IPAs practically define bold beer!

I would recommend the Two Hearted (as close as they come) recipe in the recipe section. It's hoppy, yet well balanced, without being too bitter.

I don't know exactly what you have for equipment, but there is a good chance you could do ALL GRAIN simply by using a nylon paint strainer bag and mash in your boil kettle. Search on BIAB.

My question is, why not go to the store and pick up a couple of IPAs and see if you even like them?

I'm all for DfH 60-minute (it was my second brew) and I have Two-Hearted in my queue, however ...
reading this particular original post, I recommend AHS Budget IPA at Austin Homebrew.
1) It's a bit less bold.
2) The price is very right.

All,

I do indeed understand the "hoppyness" of IPAs, however there are some more overwhelming than others. I would rather not have an overwhelming beer. I was more stating that there are different types of IPAs, i.e. Black IPAs, double IPAs, etc. I just have not developed my preferences to those varieties.

Sorry for the confusion.
