This box big enough for control panel?

That depth looks iffy.
All the panels I've seen (mine, three friends, several on line) have stuff mounted on the back and the lid.
Perhaps select the specific switches, contactors, etc you intend to use, then you'll have a better idea.
My panel is the most simplified control panel I've seen, and still went w/8" deep box.

Nope. Pretty sure the Auber PIDs are over 3" deep.

He is using BCS instead of PIDs. But by the time you get your back plane in there, some DIN rail and the breakers I doubt the door would be able to close. Although I do understand the desire to save some money on an enclosure. I have been looking for something I can repurpose, but haven't found what I'm looking for yet.
Here in Wisconsin you would think there should be plenty of used stainless wash control boxes off from pipeline milkers, but I haven't found one yet.
