Extract brewer on just my third kit. Think I finally nailed it. Did a coconut addition in the secondary of a milk stout kit... Watched my sanitation, dropped wort temp sufficiently before pitching and used a swamp cooler to maintain good temps.

This is the first batch I cooked up that I can honestly say "I would buy this in a store..."

Much thanks for each and every thread I have read on here.

Congrats it's a great feeling to really enjoy a beer you made. Just curious what your other two kits were?

I've done 5 brews now and the 4th was the first one I truly liked. I feel like I tortured myself by doing IPA's over and over until I started to get it right. People have told me that stouts and darker beers are a bit more forgiving, so I'm excited to do a porter next.

Triple chocolate milk stout (pitched and fermented too hot) and a sour cherry oatmeal milk stout (too much cherry syrup)...

Congrats on the good brew! It's so satisfying to really enjoy a beer you made. It's what gets you hooked on brewing! My first beer I brewed solo was an extract pumpkin honey porter and my first all grain was an oatmeal chocolate stout. I totally agree that dark beers are the way to go with starting out. Maybe try a black IPA next!
