As tittle states, I am thinking and trying to do my research. I have been brewing beer for about a year, so I do have some equipment, but not sure what I should/need to get, and i'm still learning. The wine is more for family than myself. So it is right now just an experiment. I plan on for this batch, bottling in beer bottles. I know it is not idea, but can work. Since I am not sure If I will be doing this more or not, i am holding off on getting a corker and wine bottles and corks.. The 1 gal Jars I know I will reuse for cider. I am trying to do this as cheap as possible to see if it is something I will do again, before investing.
Questions that I have is....
Would there be any other equipment I need other than what I have listed?
How do you degas in a 1 Gal Jar. (read a receipe in the forms where they degas after secondary?)
Back sweetening, for one gal any suggestions for a good mix to make it semi-sweet? and from what I have read, people use sugar/water mix. has anyone tried to do a strawberry syrup (strawberry/water/sugar mix) to back sweeten? ( Thinking of the strawberry crepes that I make).
Can I use tap water, or should i do RO water?
If I use RO water, should I add anything to it? (am I overthinking this?)
Items that I have:
2 gal Pale
yeast Nutrients
Racking cane
bottling bucket
bottles and caps
ph test strips(bought by mistake)
Hydrometer
items that I will be getting:
Acid Blend
Tannin
Pectic Enzyme
campden tablet
1 gal Jug (or would it be best for 2?)
Plus the strawberries, sugar, and yeast.
Thanks
