Hi all,
I was an all grain home brewer in the mid '90s. I had a pretty good set up then, 3 tier stand with 3 burners, large pots, 5 & 10 gallon cornies, converted chest freezer, etc. You get the picture. The problem was that the hobby was taking on a life of it's own & brewing became a chore with all the maintenance on everything, clean up, and keeping an inventory of supplies big enough to keep everything going. Space for everything was becoming a problem as well as having enough time to do it all. I don't want to do all of that again so I'm considering getting back into brewing extract brews with maybe doing a stovetop mash now and again. I'm shocked how much the equipment costs now....I wish I'd have kept a few things. Oh well. Wish me luck!

Welcome back buddy. I was in about the same place and same time as you were, so I hear you. Except you have better sense, as I'm a broken-down fart who decided to go all in with a 20 gallon system, lol.

Best of happy brewing!

Are you looking for us to talk you into, or out of, coming back to brewing? :)

I just bought one of these; I'm probably not the right person to give you advice:

Welcome to HBT, and welcome back to brewing!

If you want to get back into it without breaking the bank, yeah, extract would be a good route. About $100-150 for gear and you're in business. If you want to move back to AG, consider brew in a bag. All you need to add is a bag.

I think my first year I did stove top extract or BIAB with a 20qt yard sale kettle. I'm pretty sure my whole outfit cost less than $100. Every year birthday and Christmas brought more bigger gear.
Welcome back, have a beer.

I'll join this club. According to my logbook the last batch I did was July 21, 1995... I was doing all grain, using corny kegs and making decent beer but then junior came along and brewing wasn't a priority anymore. I did keep my equipment however and now junior drinks beer with me so I'm back. looking around it's pretty amazing the change and advancements in the HB world. I just got back from the local HB shop and picked up an IPA extract kit to start back on. Figured I should start slow to see if I remember how to do this. I want to get back to grain brewing and keeping a small assortment of yeasts. The online information and forums are pretty awesome. I have a lot questions.
