my starter was almost 1L for a double ipa. Here is the recipe:

my final gravity was 1.070 so I was a bit under. I am learning still. But it only bubbled in the air lock for about 24-30 hours. It started in the night yesterday and today when I checked it, zero bubbles.

Should I make another starter and pitch it? It does smell epic so that is a good sign

If it was a 5 gal/20L batch then yes, I think you underpitched for a 1.070 beer. However I don't think you need to add more yeast now. It should ferment out fine. It will just take a little longer. If you're not seeing bubbles anymore it's possible the seal in your airlock is broken. You can always pop the lid off and check for krausen to make sure it's actively fermenting.

just checked it, its sealed. with some krausen, the high mark is about 2" higher than it is now.

Give it an extra week (5 instead of 4)?

Wow maybe it just fermented that fast! I think 3 weeks should be more than enough time. 4-5 weeks is a bit overkill. You could always take a gravity reading to make sure fermentation didn't stop prematurely.

1.070 was your final gravity or original? If your OG was 1.070 your FG should be around 1.014 or so.

Bubbles mean nothing. Check the gravity. You pitched fine. It just took off fast. Sounds like a perfectly healthy fermentation. The krausen level sounds good.

No need to give it extra time. Unless you have an odd dry hopping schedule, you shouldn't need more than 2 weeks from brew day to bottling/kegging.

Give the fermentation a week then check the gravity. Check it again in another week in case the fermentation is going slowly. Which yeast did you use and what is the temperature of the fermenting beer?

Don't rush to worry.

sf-05 washed and washed right. 5th gen of it. It pop the top of the jug i had it in. I figure, if anything I can take care of yeast.

Temp has been 64-68 max, north country weather, my control system has yet to kick in. (big arduino fan)

If you aerated you wort the pitch you did is plenty. The yeast will multiply to the amount needed if they have the conditions to do so. 2" of krausen suggests that your yeast did just fine. Pitching more now is a waste. 64 to 68 degrees is warmer than I would like and that makes fermentation faster. I think your beer is done and just needs some time to clean up and the yeast to settle out.
